| An Interview with 50 Cent: “Death Isn’t Fake, But Its Entertaining to Watch |
By:

In a refreshingly candid interview with Tim Noakes, 50 Cent talks about
everything from his relationship with hip hop culture and some of hip hop’s
most prominent names to Christmas and his gift giving. It is rare that one
is allowed such an intimate look into the life of a hip hop superstar, and
50 Cent is more than willing to gamely answer Noakes’ questions. For him,
Christmas is a family holiday, though he does avoid donning a Santa suit.
In response to a question on gift giving, he recommends underwear as the
gift of choice for the woman in a man’s life, as the giver and the recipient
can enjoy it equally.
The interview turns more serious when 50 Cent discusses his relationship
with his hip hop peers. He talks openly about the animosity between himself
and other hip hop artists like Fat Joe and Jay-Z, chalking it up to
competitiveness. He asserts that success has not changed him much, and
addresses statements made by Jay-Z that he is no longer someone worth
fearing. 50 Cent assures Noakes that he is still the man he was before his
success.
At one of the most interesting points in the interview, 50 Cent discusses
what it meant to him to be shot nine times, and how he feels about the way
in which the public has embraced that fact. People’s fascination with
death, he believes, stems from the fact that it is imminently real. 50 Cent
seems to find this phenomenon both logical and somewhat troubling.
